Oboe Duck Reeds
In 1936, Sergei Prokofiev composed a fun piece for a children's theater titled "Peter & the Wolf". Endearingly, the characters in the piece are represented by different instruments in the orchestra. The duck is represented by the oboe and that is how we got our name. Some may joke that the oboist sounds like a dying duck due to the difficulty of handling a double reed, but we're here to help you to NOT sound like a duck! With our reeds, you can sing effortlessly on all registers and have the confidence to sound beautiful.
We pride ourselves in providing high-quality, 100% handmade oboe reeds & English horn reeds for both students & professionals. All our reeds are made in the "American long scrape" style from start to finish by a professional oboist. Thanks to our new model of ordering reeds, there is NO WAITLIST as long as our reeds are in stock. Our reed makers have played with some of the top professional ensembles such as the Chicago Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, New World Symphony, Houston Grand Ballet & Opera, United States Coast Guard Band, Hartford Symphony, New Haven Symphony, and the Louisiana Phil, just to name a few. Notable teachers include Eugene Izotov (San Francisco Symphony), John Ferrillo (Boston Symphony Orchestra), Linda Strommen (Indiana University, Interlochen), Anne Gabriel (LA Phil), Alex Klein (former principal Chicago Symphony), and Robert Walters (Cleveland Orchestra).
